I recommend: Music and Videos

Post  Guest on Sat Jun 06, 2009 10:04 pm

We have so much stuff in the original "I recommend" thread that I thought it might be useful to create a separate thread for music and videos. What a Face

Here are two of my favorites: No Doubt-Just a Girl from the album Tragic Kingdom

and Sunday Morning also from Tragic Kingdom

I think I like the songs more than the videos but Gwen's still so wonderful to look at!

Jesus christ.
If it is not too much to ask can you not post the original music video when you post these songs, because I can only see 1 of those 4 vids XD
And I can usually see them if it is in AMV's or slideshows.

Just a few I recommend for now...not official MVs either, that I know of.

The first one is a music video for another web comic, and my personal favorite one at that. Misfile. While not my favorite, the music is relaxing to me, so it has it's good points. M83 - Highway of Endless Dreams.

Alright, so this one is sorta official, insofar as live performances are. My absolute favorite performance of one of my absolute favorite songs by my absolute favorite artist. Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing.

Another group I enjoy, and my favorite performance of what I consider their best song. The Hives - Hate To Say I Told You So

Can I get away with one more? Just an AMV I absolutely adore, set to my favorite anime Mai-HiME/My-HiME. Apocalyptica - Angels Fall.

Sorry if that seems like a lot...I've been sick all week and haven't been saying/typing/posting a lot. I've got a lot to catch up with. Smile

I found it :D

Post  greven on Sun Jun 07, 2009 8:18 am

I finally found the song I was looking for Very Happy
It is called Fandes fiol (The devils violin) and it is actually a really good song Very Happy
The recording is from a live show and this is usually what they pull out as their last encore (usually that is the fifth song after they have left the stage "for good" XD ) They have a reputation of not stopping the show before they can see the sun rise Very Happy

Nick Drake-One of these things first
from the album bryter layter

No moving images of him exist. There are only still photographs of him. He only ever made three albums (studio recordings) in his lifetime and there were many postumous compilations made. He has a unique guitar picking style. He was underappreciated in his lifetime and his works are slowly gaining more recognition as the years go by. His work has been featured in commericials and lots of movies in recent years, such as Garden State and Revolutionary Road. I just love his work. I just bought Lou Reed's Transformer!

Post  Guest on Tue Jun 16, 2009 12:53 am

I've always been curious about this album and i finally bought it. I wasn't expecting to like it. I thought i would like maybe two songs on it. Surprisingly i like pretty much all the songs. It was produced by David Bowie (who i love) and you can see his influence on this album.
Anyways, here are two songs i have on repeat til i get bored of 'em.

Satellite of Love

Vicious

Enjoy! affraid

Thanks for sharing this song it is really great! i enjoyed it! So much so that i'm willing to forgive Simon Kvamm's use of the KEYTAR! (i'm sorry i've never liked the keytar and i never will). Cool song!

Here is one of my favorite Paulina songs:

Aunque a mi me cuases pena he tirado tus cadenas

Aunque vengas a implorarme, a pedirme, a suplicarme
Aunque vengas y me llores que te asuelva y te perdone
Aunque a mi me cuases pena hoy yo tiro tus cadenas

Aunque a mi me cuases pena he tirado tus cadenas

Aunque vengas a implorarme, a pedirme, a suplicarme
Aunque vengas y me llores que te asuelva y te perdone
Aunque a mi me cuases pena hoy yo tiro tus cadenas

Re: I recommend: Music and Videos

Elastica was a band from the early-mid 90's that lasted until the early 2000's. The band was moderately successful with their self-titled debut album, Elastica, bringing about such hits as Connection, Waking Up, and Car Song. Unfortunately, they very quickly delved into drugs, ruined their songs and performances over it, and split over creative differences shortly after releasing a horrid second album.

Even when I was just twelve and saw the official music video for Connection the first time, I developed something of a crush on frontman (frontwoman?) Justine Frischmann, and I think the following video captures her at about her best.

If she ever looked better, it was at this Top of the Pops performance of Waking Up. The sound is low, but I think the video is great. Connection was also performed on TotP.

Car Song, performed at the same appearance as the above Connection video.

Just one more song here, Smile, which I'm posting because I absolutely love it. Wish it was longer.

Official Music Video for Connection, where I first saw the band on MTV way back when. There were actually two official videos made for this song, but this is the one I prefer because it's the first I saw. I recall hearing it featured on Beavis & Butthead too, but I never much cared for that show. Here's the other video.

Official Music Video for Waking Up

Official Car Song Music Video. Justine had such wonderful legs, now that I'm watching this again with an interest. o.o

that was awesome... Razz
well, as everyone obviously know a very important siger lost his life this morning so i wanted to put one of my favorite songs here.

yes, it's thriller.

there is a funny story behing this song, my brother and i use to make up songs out of the vids when we were children (we weren't that young actually), only the ones in ENGLISH because we couldn't understand a single thing they were saying so when we saw this vid ve started singing it like this:
a un muerto le sale sangre, a un muerto le sale sangre, a un muerto le sale sangre, a un muerto le sale sangre...
tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah
tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah.

it was a stupid song i know but it was fun, it means something like this:
a dead man has blood in his mouth, a dead man has blood in his mouth, a dead man has blood in his mouth, a dead man has blood in his mouth.
tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah
a dead man has blood in his mouth, a dead man has blood in his mouth, a dead man has blood in his mouth, a dead man has blood in his mouth.
tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah, tiririririti yeah yeah.
that's all. bye Surprised

My top favorite anime of all time, just barely edging out My-HiME, is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumia (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu). The story actually centers around the character called Kyon. Called Kyon, because Kyon is not his real name. He actually wishes people would use his real name, but...part of the fun in the series is that his real name is never given.

Anyways, it centers around Kyon and the energetic and easily-bored Haruhi Suzumiya, and the SOS Brigade.

I highly recommend purchasing (Or downloading if purchasing isn't viable, but purchase eventually, the series is worth it) the series. The English dub is among the best I've ever heard, bar none, and the whole series is extremely amusing, while offering it's share of darker moments too. It has a few sadder points, and some that could leave a person speechless, but overall succeeds in keeping the whole story in perspective so that it never takes itself so seriously as to alienate any viewers.

Of course, you could click here to read the translated books, in a variety of languages I might add.

The following do not represent the series, really, but are meant to captivate one's attention and demand they do what they must to find out more. Trust me, it's worth it.

The opening video, textless.

The closing video...at least, the no-credit full-dance version.

I was looking around a little bit ago today and stumbled across some of these gems.

Some people pass Haruhi Suzumiya off as some silly show. Few seem to realize the impact it has had on society all over the world.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Yeah, I'm going for an ominous feel there. But seriously, I thought these were great.

London MCM Expo, May, 2007, Cosplay Masquerade Competition

Lots of Haruhi's at the London Expo in 2007

CPDRC inmates getting in on the action

Team Dreamcatchers at Sakuracon

BBQ Brigade of the SOS Brigade Invasion Tour at AX 2007

The 2009 London MCM Expo

Another from the 2007 London Expo

Another Hare Hare Yukai dance, but since I can't read non-English I'm unsure of any source.

This doesn't even scratch the tip of the ice berg. Some of the dances out there are just mind-blowing, some are crap, but I smile all the same. My favorite series is much-loved all over.

And for some reason I feel like I'm riding a bandwagon. Suspect Ah well...

This... ---> Suspect <--- ...is my favorite smiley I think. I love him.
