This thread is for news about your life and the life of those around you, be it regional, nation or international, just news you think would interest the rest of us here.

I just made sure a foal got into the world unharmed, sometimes living on a farm can be very rewarding Smile
Here is hoping it will start drinking its mothers milk soon cheers

Luckily there were no problems during the birth as I know nothing of horses what so ever and I am home alone today, so that would have been bad.

Re: Breaking news

Post  ReiDavidson on Wed Feb 11, 2009 12:33 pm

I had one of my best friends who lives in Ohio come for my birthday and had an epic weekend of hardly sleeping, only to wake up Monday morning at 7:30 AM and drive six hours to accompany my mom on her travels to a seminar for her work. When we arrived, we got on my laptop and she checked her email and discovered it had been canceled. So instead of using the lazy hotel time to get ahead in my comic pages, we drove back the next day and I got behind.

My School recently established a GSA club. It was approved... yesterday I think. This is a real feat considering we're living in South Texas, and there was a whole lot of drama and politics that we had to deal with to arrive to our goal. Usually any club can be passed no problem at our school, but we had to have a Committee meeting with teachers and parents and... legal threats and stuff. So locally I feel my friends and I have achieved something really great.

I saw that! I'm a little jealous, I keep hoping Piper will get featured. X3

But not so jealous that I can't say congrats Tara and you deserve it!

You're right, so you don't have to be embarrassed!!

Thanks guys! I was surprised, but I knew I liked the comic. But I thought it would be a while since it IS rather slow , ha ha!

I'm sure Piper will be featured soon!!

In my local news, uuuh, yesterday was interesting because of the feature, and when I got home to my electricity going BANG off, and then it was fixed. Not nearly as exciting as birthing a foal or saving the world one GSA at a time. But this is a very interesting thread!! I think I'll check it out a lot to see what's up with you guys.

Belated congratulations to Fly Hue! That is really exciting, especially considering where you live!

My grandma went to the hospital day before yesterday, so now my Da, who looks after her, has some time to himself. He's going out with his best friend on Sunday, and he's coming to guitar lessons with my sister and I tomorrow. We're both so excited, since he hasn't been able to for... a long time. Very Happy

For an update on GSA stuff.

Post  Fly Hue on Sat Feb 28, 2009 12:11 pm

That post reminded me. I should give you an update so if anything happens you all won't be too shocked. Our founder is getting a little worse now. It's quite clear now that he's a hypocrite and I'm quite concerned for the club with his drama-loving attitude, it could get us disintegrated.
He profiles student and faculty quite promptly. One teacher who I've known for three years now who is a conservative but regardless accepting, supportive, and open-minded made an inoffensive but conservative-minded remark, and our founder (Johnathan) has had him labeled as a homophobe and an enemy ever since. The other day he called one of our AP's a "closet-case", which I take direct offense to because it is using homosexuality as an insult, it's immature, and it's implementing the very same labeling that this club is fighting against. I ran against him for president using a strong speech urging the club to take the role as respectful and accepting citizens, which I got loud applause for at least. But of course as these things always turn out, Johnathan as the founder got the ticket. I have since heard from many other members that our two speeches were the exact opposite. I can only hope that the rest of the club soon realizes how much of a hypocrite he is before it's too late. The forecast is cloudy. :/

Desperate times calls for desperate means.

Let the halls be filled of corpses, let the streets flow with blood, and let the sound of revolution be heard by all!

How awful! Sad The whole point of GSAs is to promote friendship, not make enemies.

Is there a teacher you could ask for help? Clubs need sponsor teachers right?

I hope it all works out.

Yeah I guess you could talk to a teacher too, but you should still keep revolution or mutiny as a plan B (Because plan B always works).

I'm going to renew my passport, right, but I keep effing up the THREE PAGES of the application. 3 pages! How can they dumbfound me so! I keep writing down the wrong things and I have to end up printing up the forms - again.

Somehow felt I wanted to share the fact that I'm a spaz.

Tara - I would fill out the forms once, allowing for mistakes and markouts, then print them again and copy all the information from the first set.

I got lucky! No not in that way you pervs!

Here is the deal: In denmark there is a thing called conscription(? acording to google translate that is), Well the thing is that everyone who turns 18 must draw a number and if the number is low enough you HAVE to go to the army. So after more than a year of waiting I finally went and drew my number today, and THANK THE LORD! I got a high number, meaning no army for me. I was soooo nervous.

Man, THAT is a weird system. Not saying that Denmark sounds less cool to me now, just... less Utopian? I'm not sure how to word my feelings right now. DX

Well you are only forced to 4 months in the army so it is not THAT bad, and in those 4 months you cant be send on assignment anywhere, it is just to give you a glipse of what the army is all about

Re: Breaking news

We sort of have a similar thing going on in the US. When a male turns 18 he has to... register to draft I believe? I'm not a dude, so I'm not obligated to know these things. ^^ But like, clearly there's a 100% that the military has your name. On the other hand, drafts aren't 100%. Depending on the circumstances, you could quite likely make it out plumb free like you did.

Err... Does anyone know a bit more about this? I just realized as I was typing this how ignorant of the subject I am. X)
