Knots- Critique

Post  curlpop on Sun Mar 08, 2009 10:41 am

Would this be a comic you'd want to read? It get a lot more serious, but I really feel that these are some of my best characters.. http://www.drunkduck.com/Knots/index.php?p=528640

What's your first impression? I'm going to stop with all the punchlines soon, I just wanted to grab a few readers Razz

It's kind of mature subject matter, not 18+ or anything. Just a warning.

I got caught up in a bunch of stuff so I missed a lot of updates for my faved comics, and when I start missing updates I really let myself go and stop checking up on them, so this was a good excuse to get caught up again (and luckily I hadn't missed all that much!) I've always loved your artwork, it's very stylistic and quirky and lots of bright colors~<3 and you're just growing into it more and making more developed, which is great! The relationships and dialogue are QUITE realistic, and the humor is simple and effective! I have nothing bad to say about Knots, I'm not just kissing your ass or afraid of hurting your feelings, I honestly think you've got a good thing going- all you need is keep doing what you've been doing.

You know I love it!!
I love your characters, and I love your dialogue and your art is adorable and quirky and I love how you colour things, and I love how fluid your pages are, going from one thing to another. It seems, strangely, if this makes sense, very stream of conscious.

But one constructive crit, maybe you should work on a character page? There are so many characters, you move the story around a lot to the different characters, and some of them look quite a bit a like (something that a lot of artists have trouble with *cough* Gisele Legace of Penny and Aggie, cough, myself) so a character page would help people figure out who is who.

Gotchya! Thanks! I've been trying to make them look different, but its so hard haha T_T
In Sept/January, I'll be going to school for art and that'll definitely help me differentiate characters.

I've noticed in comments on your earlier stuff that people have had difficulty telling people apart, but trust me at the very least you've made an improvement and have learned how to make them more distinctive. It's called getting better, and it's a good thing. ;)

What school are you planning on attending?

Congrats curlpop!! I haven't been to art school. Well. I took a minor in art at a university known for business, and the program I was in shut down a year after I was finished but ah-ha-ha. D:

I've always wondered what it would be like. Maybe you can put it in your comics somehow!
