Acorns! Gerry's revenge.
Omggggggg. ._. Gerry... That;s crazy. I can't believe... I mean she's not a bad person but...
Broken
I agree with Greven.
I mean, I know there was no excuse for hurting the poor horse, but Gerry was not only hurt badly, but also, she had pressure of her sexuality and stuff from being bullied at school. She was going through a really a hard time, with the bullies, but also facing her sexuality in a still very homophobic day and age. I think the last (and worst) straw was Caroline's betrayal, and also the way that she did it too. It probably just sent Gerry over the edge.
And also, teenagers aren't always the best at making desisions in emotional chrisises!

Re: Acorns! Gerry's revenge.
The way I look at it is, I feel the desire to get revenge from time to time, and I don't even feel bad about FEELING that way. So that Geraldine has committed the action and has already made an effort at repenting is honorable enough to me. But I suppose it would be easier to feel sorry for her actions considering she harmed an innocent. None the less, she clearly regrets her actions, and she said the acorns could be severe but not exactly kill the horse, so I think it already is a time for forgiveness.
Re: Acorns! Gerry's revenge.
Though I perfectly understand the reason for revenge, as well as I agree, that while being hurt we do not tend to think about our actions, I would never take revenge on something innocent and weaker than me. It is cruel to hurt those, who cannot defend and are not responsible for our hurt. As someone commented below the comic, I would rather take revenge on the boyfriend as he was partly the reason, nevertheless Gerry wouldn't do it for the reasons she was not 'out and pround' and that action could cause many suspicions and further complications. She certainly couldn't accept the betrayal of caroline, but she chose wrongly what to do about it.

As of this writing it is not yet known for a fact that Gerry did or didn't feed the horse acorns.Gerry did have alot of problems gay and still in the closet , not only lossing a girlfriend, but feeling used from the very start, and to add insult to injury losing her to a man no less!!. That is still no reason what so ever to hurt and possably kill the horse .If any one was "wrong" it was Caroline, And even still She has a right to choose who she wants to be with.May be Caroline did use Gerry for the sake of having a ridding friend but that's life on this Planet.Gerry should learn a lesson 1. Spare the innocents 2.What are the consequences of your actions? 3.Is it worth it? Let us assume the worst, the horse dies. In the Unied States the owner would sue the stable for millions of dollars, Gerry's Aunt maybe lossing the stable.PETA who push for jail time for Gerry and rightly so.Being broken hearted would be the least of Gerry's problems.

Luckily the horse didnt die, and she didnt feed it the acorns, so all is good.
Also Americans are insane if they sue the stable for that kind of shit. In Denmark she would get a huge fine, get a fired and it would go on her record under animal abuse I think maybe even a short time in jail, but the stables would never even get involved, other than the terrible PR.
Re: Acorns! Gerry's revenge.
And... all that tension and devastation just to learn Gerry really is a good person. Just like... what we all initially thought she was. DX
Re: Acorns! Gerry's revenge.
Hello,GREVEN Yes many of us Americans are a bit nuts. Since Gerry was an employee, whether she helped her aunt or collected a pay check every week. The stable, collecting a fee from the owner of the horse, would be deemed responsible . This type of stuff happens all the time. I am not kidding .People sue all the time in the U.S.A. over the most ridiculous things.A woman sued a hospital because she lost her "psychic" abilities after a CAT scan or an MRI I'll give you one guess. Yep! She won money. Europe seems very sensible .Maybe Gerry can sue the school because teachers allowed Stacy to harass her? I would like to know what happened to Leo the rock star.Leo acts like the take charge type of woman.I have the feeling Leo would give Janey a good sock if Janey ever hurt Sarah.

You know what the saddest thing is?
The whole world is laughing at you, we have magasines with sections dedicated to telling the story of the new crazy person suing some giant coorperation for something completely ridicules AND WINNING.
There is a story going around about some danish doctors who were going on holiday in America and upon arriving shit happened, I dont remember exactly what happened, but someone got injured bad and the doctors had to give him heart massage(? you know keeping his heart alive, by pushing down on his chest and stuff). Because of their heart massage the man survived, but he did deside to sue them because during the heart massage the doctors had broken one of his ribs (aparently it is not unusual that a rib or two breaks during heart massage), and the patient ended up winning a lot of money from the doctor who had saved his life. The most insane part is that this story is actually true, there is all kinds of records and evidence that points to that, and if a doctor can get sued for saving a mans life, then something is just plain wrong.
Acorns, Gerry
Hello GREVEN I have been reading Simply Sarah almost from the begining .Very often subjects ,topics, arise which bring up moral a dilemma or put to the test a persons principles .When Sarah and Janey Slept in an Inn, if they got bit by a rat would they sue? That thought never can to my mind., yet in the States many of us are of a differant mind set.I can see how you guys are laughing. Over here (USA) people are writing books. In the Feb.9. 2009 issue of Newsweek a review of "Life Without Lawyers" The following is cited "The Washington DC judge who sued his drycleaner for 54 million dollars for losing his pants;the teacher sued for repositioning a students hands on a flute;schools that now ban running at recess lest a child fall, and the five inch fishing lure with the three-pronged hook with a caution label "Harmful if Swallowed".The LGBT community has found a useful tool in sueing companys for discrimation.
Many big gains in how we achieve equality have come about with law suits.Social progress is a long hard up hill battle in the USA.

Why do you always write my name in caps its feels like you are spitting out my name
We have a saying in Denmark that goes like this: "Alting med måde."
Its rough translation would be something like: "everything in the right amounts."
The meaning is simply, just because something can do some good, dont use too much of it.
Suing each other might give you some advances in yoour LGBT community, but the damage done is far worse than the good gained. In europe we have a very equal community, if you work your way to the top then good, you get more money you get respect, and if you dont fuck up big time, you get to stay there. Building a fortune takes time here.
From what we hear about the US you can work your ass off and get rich, then take one step over a line you didnt know was there and find some lowlife suing you for a couple of milions. Shit I understand that you sue when your rights are being spit on, but when you dry you cat in the microwave its your own fucking problem.
So yeah, my point is pretty much: everthing in the right amounts
Enough can do you good, but if you do it too much then you end up with a lot of crap.
Re: Acorns! Gerry's revenge.
You know, I don't know if this suing stuff makes the states dumb or stupid. Doesn't it take a certain amount of cleverness to convince a judge, who has sworn to do his duty by looking at things in an unbiased light and making the most lawful decision, that something that is everyday is not justifiable?
Also, not everyone -- in fact, most people I'd say in the US are not sue happy. I did not sue Wal-Mart, a multi billion dollar corporation who probably would have given me a million outside of court to keep my mouth shut, when my supervisor sexually harassed me. Why? Because he was a sick sad man and as long as he left me alone, I didn't need millions of dollars.
Also, these ridiculous cases you talk about often times have more to the than the sum of the parts. My biggest example is of the case of the woman suing McDonald's because he coffee was too hot. And won. Sounds silly right? Coffee is hot. Duh.
What no one ever says is that she actually suffered third degree burns in her mouth and couldn't eat properly for several weeks and actually had scarring on part of her face where it burned her.
That's a horse of a different color isn't it?

Congrats Rei
You just blew my mind.

You know in Denmark saying thats what she said will get you outlawed, its like getting beaten to death after yelling mortal combat, you are declaring it yourself so its fair game.

I hear about that case every few months, but I've never heard that side of the story. Kinda makes me wonder who's actually telling the truth in these sorts of cases...

Re: Acorns! Gerry's revenge.
It's not new. SS has been in the top ten most of it's run!(I do believe it was once close the No.1 spot- or it WAS at No.1 once? Someone else answer that!) However with the rise of other fad comics and some political bias SS has been bumped off the list every now and then. But it is nice that SS is back on the main page were it belongs!
